Before the mall, before the internet, before mail order, there was Main Street. For over 75 years, Sarasota's Main Street and downtown area has been the place to shop, dine, and stroll. We invite you to come see why... it still is.

By the late 1800's Sarasota was a bustling tourist mecca, drawing people from the northern United States and as far away as Scotland. The citrus industry and the land boom were largely responsible for the growth and popularity of the Sarasota area.
In the early 1920's the downtown Main Street area had three large modern hotels, a first class business district, multiple apartment houses, hundreds of fine new homes, America's first golf course and an active railway and boating transportation system.
Today Sarasota has one of Florida's finest and most charming downtown communities. The revitalization efforts have resulted in a thriving business district filled with multitude of shops where one can find antiques, boutiques, gift shops, jewelry stores and more. Area restaurants offer an extensive array of culinary delights, which can be enjoyed in most any atmosphere, fine dining, outdoor cafes, sports pubs, and an eclectic mix of ethnic selections, the possibilities are endless.
